Coming from a family of educators, I have been accustomed to variety of teaching and learning methods. This has allowed me to adapt the discipline and hard work of traditional methods together with the effectiveness of contemporary tutoring. I believe students need motivation more than anything else and that’s exactly what my strength is: to drive the students to pick up the book and learn. Being around students all these years I have learned that most important thing a student lacks is motivation: A drive to learn and do well in school and in life. It’s easy to brand a student incompetent when the pupil is simply not enthused to try to learn. I have developed a system where the students will be taught to set up short term goals and rewarded once they achieve the goals. Overtime, the student will learn to be successful without external motivation. I also emphasize the importance of learning by doing. That is exercises are the key to effective learning and whole understanding. Extensive training and exercise along with close supervision and assistance will be provided for the student to completely master the subject. These exercises will be custom designed according to the individual student’s ability and needs. Although success in exams remains a priority, my main purpose of education is for the child to be able to utilize their knowledge in real world. By relating the syllabus to real life examples, students will be more encouraged to learn since it’s both fun and useful for them. This gives them a purpose, a need to learn and continue to learn to better themselves in the future. This, for me is much more important then short term success alone.
