Thank you for taking the time to consider us.

Stephen’s English Classes enters its 9th year of operation in 2013.

Stephen’s English Classes was established with the aim of providing a holistic approach to the learning of the English Language. We do not believe in rote learning or spoon feeding our tutees. Instead, they are encouraged to attempt questions on their own, make mistakes (no big deal), and explore where and why they went wrong.

To this end, classes are kept deliberately small. This allows the tutor to explain the marked homework, explain and re-explain a point to drive it home succinctly, answer any query/issue raised by the tutee and have an intimate knowledge of the performance of each tutee at any particular point in time. The tutorials are also customised to meet the particular academic standard of each tutee so that he has a reasonable chance of improving himself,-neither too difficult so as to put him off nor too easy as to negate any real acquisition of knowledge.

The results have been most encouraging. Over the years, we have helped many to achieve Grade A in their school/ public (UPSR, PMR and SPM) examinations. For example, 75% of our tutees scored Grade A in PMR 2012 and 67% scored Grade A/A+ in SPM 2012. Proof available. Some of our UPSR tutees who achieved Grade A in English have gone on to sekolah asrama penuh for their secondary education.

We are also inspired by the performance of some of our less academically-inclined (lazy) tutees. Some of them who came in with Grade D in UPSR are now scoring near Grade A- in their examinations. This is due to our small class size and our novel approach of being firm, understanding, motivational and persistent in our quest to achieve academic excellence.
